vishanti xmas

This holiday season is the first we've gotten an artificial tree. The deal at Costco was just too good to pass up: 9 feet tall, 1800 lights pre-installed, and the deluxe 'tips' that look like real fir needles. Now that the tree is all up I have to say I like it, it really does look like a real tree when all decked out. It comes with a 5 year warranty and if it actually lasts that long it will be much cheaper than that many years of live trees.

Some other noted benefits:
  • the pets are much less interested in it, both dogs and cats.
  • don't have to water it
  • far more lights on it than I was ever motivated to put on.

I used LED C7s outside this year that supposedly only use 8% the power of incandescent C7 bulbs and so holiday decoration is complete. Now back to baking snowball cookies...

I broke down a couple of years ago and found a 6' artificial tree at Big Lots that does the trick.

However, I use the larger C 7.5 lights on my tree for that retro look. :-)

Still gotta put the ornaments on however.
